Ceramics of Early Neolithic
Early Neolithic, the period between 6,000 and 4,600 years BC, was marked by a special method of decorating ceramic vessels, the so-called impresso decoration, by cutting different motifs with the edge of a shell into the surface of the vessel before baking. Impresso ceramics is the general culture of early Neolithic spread along the coastal strip of the Mediterranean Sea. It represents the early Neolithic and thus is the oldest technique of pottery decorating.
